I remember when I was getting my pilot licence, I was scared the first time I had to do stalls training. Stalls simulate a sudden loss of airspeed and altitude and you have to recover the aircraft back to normal flight.
Would I be able to do it? What if I failed at it? What if i panicked and made the wrong input? What if we crashed? What if I die today?
Seems extreme but the emotion of fear will do that to us.
Once I learned the process from my very capable flying instructor and I understood I was in control and could recover the aircraft, I began to enjoy stalls training.
The truth is most of the fears that paralyse our action, have been created in our imagination and we can eliminate them.
As you pursue turning your fantasy goals into reality, you will have to face many fears and conquer them. Realise the worst that can happen in most cases is never very bad yet the best that can happen is generally incredible.
Imagine if I had let my fear of stalls hold me back? I would never have been able to get my pilot licence and experience the joy of flying myself, family and friends across our beautiful country.
Don’t let your fears hold you back.
You overcome your fears through intelligent action.
Here’s what you can do next:
1. Make a list of your fears, doubts and worries towards any given situation.
2. Take a look at each of these fears and write out what you are going to do about them.
3. Get busy and do it. Take action and burst through your own terror barrier and enjoy the freedom which is and always has been your birthright.
