This morning, as I stepped out for my run, I thought to myself: “What a privilege it is to run.”
That thought surprised me. Because not too long ago, my first thoughts were more like: “This is going to be hard today.” “I’m not really a runner.”
As I got going, I was thinking about this: how easy it is to talk ourselves down or out of something simply because it feels unfamiliar and not yet part of our new self-image paradigm.
When we don’t yet have proof we can do it, our thoughts align with doubt and limitation instead of possibility: “Earning a million in a month is going to be hard.” “I’ll never be a fast runner.” “Where are all the clients going to come from?”
But here’s the truth: you don’t need proof. You need decision and a self-image paradigm shift to hold what you say you want.
The Difference Between Proof and Decision
Most high achievers look for evidence before committing fully to a new level. They want the numbers, the track record, the reassurance. But waiting for proof is the fastest way to stall your growth.
The leaders who leap forward, whether into million-dollar months, companies that scale with ease, or relationships that thrive under pressure, are the ones who decide first, then build the self-image to match that decision.
Growth begins with identity. If your self-image still says “I’m not really a runner” or “I’ll never get to seven figures,” you’ll keep acting in line with that limitation.
Are You Driving to the Corner Store, or Flying the Jet?
Most people are using their minds like having the most magnificent car ever built and only driving it once a week to the corner store.
It’s insane. The collective ignorance that exists with respect to the powerful workings of the Mind is costing you dearly.
You’ve got a marvellous machine capable of taking you on extraordinary journeys… and yet you’re stuck on mundane tasks.
Your mind was designed for more than spreadsheets, to-do lists, and incremental growth. It was designed to imagine, to create, to hold fantasy goals and then shape reality around them.
The tragedy isn’t that people aim too high and miss, it’s that they aim too low and hit.
Discipline Your Thoughts Around Fantasy Goals
Here’s what you need to do: start to hold the fantasy goal, whatever that is for you the million-dollar months, the company that scales with ease, the freedom-filled lifestyle. Then discipline your thinking around it.
Create paradigm shifts. Do the work.
When I began running again earlier this year, I wasn’t fast. But I kept choosing to think differently: “I am a runner. I can get faster.” And I built new habits into my self-image paradigm that produced new results.
Am I the fastest runner in the world? No. But compared to where I started in January, I am a fast runner. I’m setting new PBs constantly because I decided, shifted my self-image, and backed it with action.
It’s no different in business. If you keep thinking of yourself as someone who “just gets by,” you’ll create results that reflect that. But if you decide to become the leader of a business that scales with ease, the mind will align with that picture and your results will follow.
Time to Get Honest
So let me ask you:
-
How’s your business growth going?
-
How are your relationships?
-
How does your income today compare to the last five years, is it going up or down?
-
And most importantly, are you using your mind for the corner-store runaround, or for the magnificent and marvellous task it’s designed for – giving you (and helping you to become) everything you’ve ever dreamed of and more?
You need to look yourself in the mirror and get honest about that.
Because the answer will shape everything that comes next.
As Bob Proctor said: “Life is growth. If we stop growing, technically and spiritually, we are as good as dead.”
Your Next Step
External success without internal growth always feels incomplete. You’ve already proven you can achieve. Now it’s time to align your self-image with the leader you’re becoming, not the one you’ve been.
That’s the work I do with high achievers every day, helping them break free from mental limitations, shift paradigms, and step into results that once felt out of reach.
