How do you know if the voice you’re listening to is your intuition… or your paradigm?

Have you ever had an idea come to you and immediately thought: “I should do that” or “call that person” or an idea for a strategy pops into your head while driving or in the shower.

Sometimes it’s a feeling that comes with a thought, you can’t necessarily explain it logically, but something in you just knows.

Then what happens? Your monkey-mind gets involved and starts dancing all over the place…but “what if it doesn’t work”?

“Maybe now isn’t the right time” or “I tried that before and it didn’t work” or “I don’t have the money”. 

Whatever it is, it comes next to seed doubt or worry and before long, you talk yourself completely out of the idea.

So which one was it intuition or paradigm?

My late mentor Bob Proctor always used to say that “intuition comes first, paradigm comes second to question it”.

So that’s what this episode is all about.

Who do you need to become to achieve your goal? Underneath your results sits a self-image. Your self-image sets the boundaries of what you believe if possible for you to be, do, have and create. 

You can’t outperform your self-image paradigm but the good news is can upgrade and change it and I’m here to show you how. 

You can work hard, you can form new habits and roll out new strategies but still not have a self-image that’s in harmony with the results you want to create. 

In this weeks’ episode I talk more about what a self-image paradigm is and how to upgrade and change it.

When we talk about self-image, I want you to understand that there are really two images at play. There’s the image you project to the outside world and then there’s the inner image in your subconscious mind that influences what you be, do, have or create. 

When most people think about improving their self-image, they tend to think about the external image first. For example, how they dress, walk or talk, the car they drive, the house they live in, the job they have etc

While that goes into it the process – it’s not the cause of new results, the inner self-image is. That’s the image held in your subconscious mind and that inner image sets the boundaries around what you believe is possible for you.

So any time you invest in improving and upgrading your self-image, will be rewarded in better results.

In this week’s episode I’ll take you through a simple activity you can do to begin to identify what you want your upgraded self-image to include and how to begin writing a new self-image script for your life.

Episode 6: You Don’t Need More Time.

What if you don’t actually need more time?

My mentor Bob Proctor taught me something right from the get-go that completely changed the way I think about time and productivity.

He said: “You cannot manage time. Time just is. You can only manage activity.”

You get the same 24 hours as the next person. Time is going to pass whether you use it well or not. 

How often have you thought:  “If I just had more time, I could get this done” or “If I had another day in the week” or “If I could get through my to-do list, then I could focus on what I really want.”

You can very easily fall into the trap of thinking that working harder, putting in more hours and giving more effort is the answer to achieving what you really want.

But you don’t need more time, you need to become more selective about the activities you’re giving your time to. 

Once I really understood that, it caused a productivity paradigm shift for me. Now I ask, what are the most important goal achieving activities for today? 

Rather than “What do I need to do today?”

You can work incredibly hard and still not be bringing your goal to life if what your working on is the wrong thing. 

Once you begin to clarify what you really want and turn that into a goal then you can start asking: What are the thoughts, feelings and actions that are in harmony with that goal? What are the goal achieving activities that match up with the result I want to create?

In this week’s episode I share how to identify six goal achieving activities that line up with your goal and act on them daily, and in doing so begin to make a time and money paradigm shift you really want. 

You can begin to close the gap between where you are and what you really want.

Episode 5: Move Before You’re Ready. Decide You’re Ready.

Is there an idea that keeps coming back to you? Something you’ve thought about doing for years? Maybe you’ve written it down, talked about it, started it once and then put it away.

And yet, for some reason, it keeps coming back.

Today, I want to tell you the story of one of those ideas for me.

It was an idea called ELEVATE and it took almost a decade to become what it is today.

The original idea for ELEVATE came to me back in 2015.

I had just started working with my mentor Bob Proctor, and if you’ve listened to the last few episodes, you’ll know this was a period of enormous growth for me. I had written out this C-Type Goal to help 1,000 clients benefit from Thinking Into Results.

My mind was really open to possibilities and all the different ways that could happen.

In May of 2015, I had this idea “ELEVATE” and it was going to be a retreat in Port Douglas.

Well it didn’t really get off the ground, but instead of letting that stop me or thinking the idea wasn’t very good – I went to work developing myself. 

This week’s episode tells that story of preparing yourself for opportunities instead of waiting, wishing or hoping you’ll get there one day. 

I started running seminars to 5 people, then 30, then a hundred. I joined Bob Proctor on stage in Toronto and Los Angeles – all my skills and experience was being put to good use, creating new results and helping others create the success they really wanted.

Then in 2023, when the idea for ELEVATE circled back – I knew the time was now. 

As we head into ELEVATE 2027, our fourth year in a row, I have the absolute privilege of Brian and Cory Proctor joining me on stage and in the room.

Brian spent more than 30 years working alongside his father, Bob Proctor.

He taught on those stages, sat in those rooms and he’ll be with us in 2027 and now we are preparing to welcome 300 people into the room.

As the great Australian singer-songwriter Paul Kelly says:

“From little things, big things grow.”

Here’s what I really want you to take from this story.

Moving before you’re ready doesn’t necessarily mean you have to build the entire thing tomorrow.

When I had the idea for ELEVATE in 2015, I wasn’t ready to produce the event it was destined to become. I moved anyway, right where I was, with what I had.

So my question for you this week is:

What idea keeps coming back to you?

ELEVATE was still a scary idea to commit to when it came back to me, but I trusted my intuition, and I knew I was ready to do it.

Episode 4: Make Up Your Mind.

What is something you know you want, but still haven’t made a committed decision to go for?

Maybe you’re waiting until you have more time, more money or fewer responsibilities. Maybe you’re telling yourself you’ll do it when the business is in a better position, when something else is completed first or when you finally feel ready.

I understand that because I did exactly the same thing with something I had wanted since I was a little girl – learning to fly.

In this episode of Make Your Own Luck, I share the story of how I spent years wanting to get my pilot’s licence while building my businesses, paying debt and managing all the responsibilities that came with an already full life.

When you make a committed decision, you begin thinking in harmony with it.

You notice people, ideas, opportunities and resources you may not have seen before, your subconscious mind goes to work and you begin behaving in ways you simply weren’t before you made the decision.

You don’t need to know exactly how before you begin. You need to know what you want, make up your mind and take the next step.

Episode 3: The True Purpose of a Goal is Growth.

What if the real purpose of a goal wasn’t to get something… but to become someone?

Have you ever achieved a goal only to realise that what you gained along the way was far more valuable than the thing you actually achieved?

A goal isn’t designed for you to just get something. It’s designed to grow you – to help you become more than you’ve ever been before.

One of the ideas that radically changed the basis of my thinking came from my late mentor, Bob Proctor.

When I first started working with Bob back in 2015, he had me thinking very differently about goals.

He introduced me to the idea of what he called a C-Type Goal.

A dream.
A fantasy.

Something you really want but you’ve never done before and something you don’t know how to achieve.

And for me, at the time, that was a radical idea.

Up until then I had built businesses, set targets and planned my life in a very logical, rational way.

I would look at what I’d done before and then ask:

How do I do a little bit better? How do I improve by 10 or 20%? How do I make the next year slightly better than the last?

There’s nothing wrong with that but I wasn’t going for a quantum leap. My goals weren’t drawing out a whole new level of who I was capable of becoming.

A C-Type Goal asks you to do something very different. It asks you to think beyond your present results, beyond what you already know how to do, beyond what you currently believe is realistic.

It asks: What do you really want?

It was about growth. And that’s the purpose of a goal.

Episode 2: What Do You Really Want?

This episode is not about goals. It’s about permission.

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to answer the question, “What do you do?” and yet how difficult it can be to answer the question: “What do you really want?”

We can usually explain what we do quite easily. We can talk about the business we lead, the role we hold, the people who rely on us, the projects we’re working on and everything we’re responsible for.

However, when someone asks us what we really want – not what needs to be done next, not what the business needs, not what our family needs, but what we really want, it can take a little longer to answer.

So before we rush to find an answer to that question, I want to talk to you about permission.

This episode is really about permission.

Permission to dream again.
Permission to want more, no matter what your existing life looks like.
Permission to redefine who you are and what comes next.
Permission to think in new dimensions.

And permission to stop for long enough to design your next chapter on purpose, rather than just continue to live by default. While there’s nothing wrong with that – there’s usually no growth attached to it.

As good as life may already be for you, it is not as good as it can get.

Episode 1: What Does It Really Mean to Make Your Own Luck?

Have you ever looked at someone and thought…“They’re so lucky.”

Maybe it was someone who built an incredible business or seemed to be in the right place at the right time or met the right person?

Maybe you’ve even looked at your own life and quietly wondered… “Why does that seem to happen for them… but not for me?”

It’s an interesting question.

I don’t believe luck works the way most people think it does.

For years people have said exactly that to me – “Karen, you’re so lucky” but what I know is that what people call luck is often simply the visible outcome of hundreds of invisible decisions all lining up to support new outcomes.

Decisions to keep learning.
Decisions to keep showing up.
Decisions to trust yourself.
Decisions to stay open.
Decisions to keep moving when there’s no guarantee.

One thing I’ve noticed after working with leaders, business owners and entrepreneurs for many years is this…

The people who create extraordinary lives, and I mean extraordinary lives by their own standards and design, don’t necessarily have fewer problems.

They’re not always smarter.

They’re not always more talented.

And they’re certainly not fearless.

They’re simply willing to make decisions that other people postpone.

They’re willing to begin before everything feels perfect.

They’re willing to invest in themselves.

They make their own luck. 

So over to you with two questions:
