Last year I sat down with Nick Graz for a conversation about how I found my way into this work, why I believe so deeply in understanding ourselves and why, after more than two decades mentoring leaders and business owners, I still love what I do.
One of the questions Nick asked me has stayed with me ever since.
Why do people know what to do, yet still struggle to create the results they want?
It’s a question I hear almost every week.
Many of the leaders I work with are intelligent, hardworking and already successful. They’ve built businesses, progressed their careers and achieved goals they once dreamed about. Yet underneath those achievements is often a frustration.
“I know there’s another level in me… so why can’t I seem to reach it?”
For many years, I was fascinated by that question.
Long before I became a mentor, I owned a branding, marketing and communications business. My work was focused on helping organisations communicate who they were to the outside world. We developed brands, launched businesses and created marketing strategies that helped people grow.
From the outside, everything looked successful, yet I kept noticing the same pattern.
Some people continued to grow, while others solved one challenge only to find themselves facing another version of the same problem a year or two later.
It made me wonder…
Was success really about strategy, or was something else driving our results?
That question changed the direction of my career.
Success is created from the inside out
Everything shifted when I met Bob Proctor.
Bob introduced me to an idea that completely transformed the way I understood business, leadership and personal growth.
He taught me that every result is created twice: first in the mind and then in reality.
The more I studied these principles and applied them to my own life, the more I realised that our businesses become a reflection of our thinking. Our leadership reflects our self-image. Even the opportunities we attract often mirror what we believe is possible for ourselves.
If the thinking underneath never changes, we often recreate the same results in different circumstances.

If you’d like to hear more about my journey into this work and the lessons that shaped my approach to mentoring leaders, I’ve included the full interview with Nick Graz below.
One of the greatest lessons Bob ever shared with me was beautifully simple: “No one is better than or less than anybody else. It’s all in awareness.”
That lesson helped me understand that people aren’t limited by their potential. They’re limited by their current level of awareness and when our awareness expands, our results naturally begin to expand too.
That’s why the work I do today is about helping them understand themselves.
Why leaders plateau
After working with leaders for more than twenty years, I’ve found that people rarely plateau because they lack ambition.
More often, they’ve simply reached the edge of their current thinking but they haven’t yet changed the internal patterns that will allow those results to become their new normal.
That’s why understanding paradigms, self-image and the invisible side of success matters so much because once you understand the root cause of your results, you’re no longer relying on circumstances to change first.
You become the person capable of creating the change.
Why this work matters to me
This is why I continue doing this work, because I know what happens when someone finally understands themselves.
They begin making different decisions, lead with greater confidence, stop repeating the same patterns and achieve goals that once felt impossible.
That is where lasting success begins.
